It'd suck to be sued... seriously
Ok, I was crusing boingboing.net today... and stumbled on a little link about a guy who successfully defended himself against a frivilous copyright lawsuit. The link implies that the site acts as a step-by-step guide on how to defend yourself. What they didn't say was that there were 113 extremely well documented steps. I spent my entire day reading this guys suit in which he at first attempted to represent himself (out of principal) and then, through his website documenting the trail, got a respectable lawyer to take his case for free. Anyway, it was all really fascinating because he provided a print out for every legal-type document submitted by both parties; there were hundreds! After reading a good portion of all of them, I've come to one conclusion: our legal system is jacked up. If you've got a lot of time on your hands you should read the first few pages to get the facts of the case. The lawyers he was up against were really, really shady. However, they made hundreds of thousands of dollars by starting a frivilous lawsuit that was stupid and easily avoidable. It kinda made me feel sorry for the enormously wealthy / incredibly stupid corporation that paid their bill. I hope I can one day aspire to being that crafty.... and rich...
